Job summary

Definity Financial Corporation is seeking an HR Assistant for HR Shared Services as a Fall 2026 co-op in Waterloo, Ontario. You’ll support seamless HR operations, serving as the first point of contact for inquiries and handling lifecycle processes from onboarding to offboarding.

You’ll maintain data integrity in the HCM system and contribute to ongoing improvements while working in a collaborative, hybrid environment that blends office and virtual work.

The Opportunity

As anHR Assistant, HR Shared Services, you’ll be a key contributor to delivering seamless HR operational support and outstanding service to employees across Definity. You’ll be part of a dynamic team that serves as the first point of contact for HR inquiries, offering guidance and efficient resolution across the full employee lifecycle—from onboarding to offboarding, including retirement, job changes, leaves of absence, payroll, and more.

You’ll also play an important role in maintaining the accuracy and integrity of our HCM system data and processes, ensuring a smooth and consistent employee experience.

What You’ll Do

• Triage and respond as required to HR inquiries, researching and collaborating with subject matter experts when needed.
• Execute specific HR transactions in the HCM system, ensuring data integrity to support employee life cycle processes focused on new hire processes.
• Identify opportunities to enhance processes and positively impact the employee experience.
• Support key initiatives/projects as required

The hourly compensation for the role starts at $22.50 per hour and will increase based on factors including but not limited to, skills, education, experience, and the recommended rates as set by the respective educational institution.
