Job summary

College of Physicians & Surgeons of Ontario in Toronto, Ontario is seeking a proactive HPARB Coordinator to manage all CPSO matters before the Health Professions Appeal and Review Board. Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree and/or 2-3 years related experience.
  • Ability to meet tight timelines under high volumes of work and internal/external pressures.
  • Knowledge of ICRC investigations, complaints process, HPARB review process and strong judgment and critical thinking.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills and professional conduct as a representative of the College.
  • Proficient in technology including MS Office suite, Adobe Pro and virtual meetings.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, prioritization and detail-oriented skills.
  • Fluency in French is an asset.

  • Act as liaison between CPSO and HPARB for day-to-day HPARB matters.
  • Write HPARB investigative reports when HPARB returns a matter for a new decision.
  • Coordinate HPARB requests for investigative staff attending Case Conferences and Reviews.
  • Coordinate HPARB and Legal if Legal was assigned to CCs/Reviews.
  • Process HPARB Decisions and Reasons, withdrawals, and timely closure of matters.
  • Liaise between HPARB, investigative team and Legal on privacy breach issues.
  • Provide detailed information about the HPARB appeals process to stakeholders.
  • Update and maintain records with appeal information and documents.

Description

The HPARB Coordinator is responsible for coordinating all CPSO matters before the Health Professions Appeal and Review Board (HPARB), an independent tribunal that reviews certain decisions of the Inquiries, Complaints and Reports Committee (ICRC). The Coordinator prepares appeal records, manages key deadlines, and serves as the primary liaison between the CPSO and HPARB.

Responsibilities:

  • Respond to and prepare Requests for Review for ICRC decisions and provide HPARB with the party information within short, strict deadlines.
  • Act as liaison between the CPSO and HPARB for all day-to-day college business related HPARB matters.
  • Write HPARB investigative reports when HPARB returns a matter for a new decision.
  • Monitor and coordinateHPARBrequest for investigative staff attending Case Conferences and Reviews
  • CoordinateHPARBand Legal if Legal was assigned to CCs/Reviews
  • Process HPARB Decision and Reasons, withdrawals,confirmed F& V matters, timeliness closure and other HPARB closure
  • Act as liaison between HPARB, investigative team and Legal related to privacy breach issues
  • Provide detailed informationregardingthe HPARB appeals process to internal and external stakeholders, including the complainant, subject physician and/or their counsel, andCollege staff
  • Update and maintain records with appeal information and save all relevant appeal documents/correspondence with the appropriate case requirements
  • Other duties as required

Qualifications:

  • Ability to meet tight timelines under high volumes of work and internal/external pressures.
  • Knowledge of ICRC investigations, complains process, HPARB review process and strong judgement and critical thinking.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills and ability to conduct oneself professionally, with decorum and discretion when acting as a representative of the College.
  • Proficient in technology including MS Office suite, Adobe Pro and virtual meetings.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to engage with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong file management, organizational and prioritization skills and strong attention to detail
  • Fluency in French, an asset

Additional Information

  • It is a fundamental requirement of employment at CPSO that employees reside in Ontario and can attend the College office as required.
  • Proof of COVID-19 vaccination required (minimum two doses).
  • Hybrid, remote work with in-office attendance one day per week and/or more as needed.

Pay Details:Starting salary $71,153
