Job summary

The College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO) seeks an experienced regulated health professional to join the Out-of-Hospital Premises Inspection Program as an OHP Clinical Liaison. The role focuses on accreditation activities and coordination of inspections for non-hospital facilities offering anesthesia and/or sedation.

You will be the primary contact for adverse event reports, support CPSO Medical Directors, and ensure OHPIP standards are met, with duties subject to changing

Qualifications

  • University degree in nursing or healthcare with 4+ years surgical/OR/PACU experience.
  • Experience in quality assurance and regulatory compliance.
  • Current, unrestricted certificate in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario or equivalent.
  • Preferred Infection Prevention and Control certification (PANC/C, CPN(C) or equivalent).
  • Knowledge of surgical instrument reprocessing and OR guidelines.
  • Knowledge of the Regulated Health Professions Act and Medicine Act.
  • Strong written communication and regulatory reporting skills.
  • Excellent collaboration and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to changing needs.

Responsibilities

Job description

CPSO’s Out-of-Hospital Premises Inspection Program (OHPIP) is looking for an experienced regulated health professional to join our dynamic program in the role of OHP Clinical Liaison. The OHPIP oversees non-hospital health facilities offering anesthesia and/or sedation services that are not covered by hospital oversight frameworks.

The OHP Clinical Liaison willbe responsible forexecuting key accreditation activities, including serving as the OHP’s primary contact for managing adverse event reports, coordinating OHP inspections, and supporting OHP Medical Directors to ensure all CPSO OHPIP standards and program requirements are met. Duties and standard work are subject to change based on operational needs.

Qualifications
  • University degree in nursing or a healthcare-related field, with a minimum of four (4) years of surgical/OR/PACU experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in quality assurance and regulatory compliance within a healthcare environment.
  • Current and unrestricted certificate in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario, or equivalent regulatory body.
  • Certificate in Infection Prevention and Control, PANC(C), CPN(C), or equivalent preferred.
  • Knowledge of surgical instrument reprocessing and sterilization standards and familiarity with relevant ORNAC, Public Health Ontario, CSA, and CAS guidelines.
  • Knowledge of the Regulated Health Professions Act, Medicine Act, and associated regulations.
  • Strong written communication skills, including the ability to prepare professional reports and regulatory correspondence.
  • Excellent collaboration and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work effectively in interprofessional environments.
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and interviewing skills, withdemonstratedattention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Self-directed, with the ability to manage competing priorities, adapt to changing operational needs, and communicate complex information clearly using plain language.
