Job summary

The Calgary Drop-In Centre (the DI) is seeking a Housing Support Worker to help guests access housing through personalized plans and coordinated supports. This full-time role focuses on housing searches, subsidies, and referrals, with a 40-hour rotation.

You will advocate with housing providers, build collaborative relationships, and drive positive housing outcomes in a trauma-informed, client-centered environment at 1 Dermot Baldwin Way SE, Calgary.

Qualifications

  • Experience in distress and/or high-stress situations, including emergency response.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to make sound decisions based on information and critical thinking.
  • Strong customer service orientation.
  • High morals, ethics and integrity.
  • Energetic, self-directed with time management and ability to handle multiple priorities.
  • Well-developed interpersonal, conflict resolution and negotiating skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications.
  • Must be comfortable with industry risks, including bodily fluids.
  • Ability to obtain a Vulnerable Sector Check.
  • Genuine commitment to the agency’s mission, vision, values and work.

Responsibilities

  • Develop personalized, guest-driven housing plans using Housing First principles to help guests achieve sustainable housing outcomes.
  • Remove barriers to housing by assisting with IDs, income support, transit passes, taxes and housing applications; provide outreach and advocacy.
  • Build collaborative relationships with guests, housing providers, and internal teams to ensure continuity of care.
  • Maintain detailed guest records, track engagement and progress, and document incidents to support outcomes.
  • Report critical incidents, collect data for funding and reporting, and prepare timely program reports.
  • Engage with community partners and landlords to foster guest independence and embody the organization’s mission.
