Job summary

Mississippi River Health Alliance is seeking a Permanent Part-Time Housekeeping/Linen Aide for Carleton Place & District Memorial Hospital. The role focuses on maintaining clean, healthy surroundings for patients, staff and visitors in accordance with policy and procedure manuals.

The incumbent will have at least one year of relevant experience, strong interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to follow written and oral instructions.

Qualifications

  • Successful completion of Grade 11.
  • Minimum one year experience as Housekeeping/Linen Aide.
  • Demonstrated good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to lift 3-5 gallon buckets and push heavy loads.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain clean, healthy and eye appealing surroundings for patients, staff and visitors.
  • Operate housekeeping equipment as trained (vacuum, floor polisher, etc.).
  • Follow Department policies and procedures to prevent cross-contamination.

Job Description

The incumbent is responsible for the duties as described inthe Housekeeping/Linen Department Policy and Procedure Manual, in order toensure the prevention of cross infection and contamination. This includesmaintaining clean, healthy and eye appealing surroundings for patients, staffand visitors.


Basic Requirements:


  • Successful completion of Grade 11.

  • A minimum of one year previous experience as aHousekeeping/Linen Aide.

  • Demonstrated good interpersonal andcommunication skills.

  • Ability to understand and follow specificwritten and oral instructions.

  • Ability to lift & carry 3-5 gallon bucketsof water for short distances & push moderately heavy loads.

  • Ability to lift heavy loads of linen, 20 to 45pounds when wet, and push heavy carts.

  • Ability to operate a vacuum, floor polisher andother machinery.

  • Ability to work at tasks requiring continuousphysical activity including lifting, pushing, walking, reaching, climbing(ladders) carrying and bending.


Preferred Qualifications:


  • Basic knowledge and principles of hygiene andsanitation.

  • Previous related experience in a hospitalenvironment.
