AgeCare is seeking a Housekeeper to maintain a safe, clean, and sanitary Long-Term Care residence for residents, visitors, and staff. You will perform a variety of cleaning tasks across dining rooms, bedrooms, bathrooms, lounges, and common areas, while observing safety rules and reporting hazards.

Requirements include secondary school completion, ability to read/write, strong English communication, and willingness to obtain a Vulnerable Sector Check.

Responsibilities

• Attend in-service education and staff meetings as directed.

The Opportunity

The Housekeeper performs a variety of housekeeping duties to ensure that the Long-Term Care residence is maintained in a safe, clean, and sanitary condition for residents, visitors, and other staff members.

What You Will Do

• Keep the work area clean and free from unsafe conditions. Report any unsafe conditions to the immediate Supervisor.
• Observe all fire and safety rules and be on alert for the safety of the residents, staff and public.
• Works in a safe manner which abides by Occupational Health and Safety policies.
• Clean dining room, bedrooms, bathrooms, lounges, activity areas, offices, hallways, stairwells, and other areas as directed.
• Clean, mop, wax, and polish floors; dust furniture and equipment; arrange furniture in an orderly fashion.
• Clean and disinfect sinks, toilets, urinals, and telephones daily. Operate a floor machine to buff dining rooms, bedrooms, lounges, corridors and office areas.
• Collect and dispose of garbage as required; keep utility rooms and storerooms in a tidy and sanitary condition.
• Attend in-service education sessions, staff meetings, workshops etc. as directed by the Environmental Services Manager.

What You Bring

• Previous housekeeping experience desirable but not mandatory.
• Completion of secondary school. Must be able to read and write and follow oral instructions.
• Good oral and written English communication skills.
• Ability to provide feedback on a day-to-day basis.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Proficiency in a second language is considered an asset.
• Ability to meet the physical requirements of the job.
• Must provide a complete and current (within six months) Vulnerable Sector Check (including a Criminal Background Check) or be willing to obtain one.
