Fairfield Inn & Suites Kelowna is seeking a Maintenance Technician to care for hotel equipment and facilities in a fast-paced environment. The role requires a solid understanding of plumbing, electrical systems, and carpentry, with a focus on safety and preventive maintenance.

Qualifications

• Experience in planning maintenance operations.
• Solid understanding of plumbing, carpentry, electrical systems.
• Working knowledge of facilities machines and equipment.
• Ability to track and report activity.
• High school diploma or equivalent; vocational degree or BSc/BA is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Maintain facilities through Marriott and IHG's preventive maintenance and repair programs.
• Ensure pool and hot tub chemistry and temperature meet health standards.
• Ensure safety and security of hotel grounds and building.
• Maintain grounds and landscaping in a neat, attractive manner.
• Develop and implement maintenance procedures.
• Inspect facilities to identify and resolve issues.
• Check electrical and hydraulic systems for functionality.
• Plan and oversee repairs and installations.
• Monitor equipment inventory and place orders as needed.
• Monitor expenses and help manage maintenance budget.
• Manage relationships with contractors and service providers.
• Keep maintenance logs and report daily activities.
• In winter, coordinate snow removal and walkway safety.

Exciting news! A fantastic job opportunity to be a full time Maintenance Technician has just opened up in Kelownaat both the Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott Kelownaand theHoliday Inn Express & Suites Kelowna!

The Maintenance technician is a friendly technician whose responsibilities will be to make sure all the equipment in the hotel is taken care of. In this role, they must have a solid understanding of plumbing and electrical systems, as well as carpentry, and maintaining pool systems. They must have excellent attention to detail, is skilled in problem resolution, and enjoys working in a fast-paced environment. Hours of work are flexible, and creative scheduling can accommodated for this Seasonal, part-time role.

The successful candidates should be focused on providingprofessionalservice and creating a memorable stay throughpersonalized guest experiences. We’re looking for individuals who want to help shape the guest experience in a brand-new environment and who are ensuring the hotel is well cared for and adequate to support the company’s business operations.

Job Requirements:

• Maintain the physical facilities through Marriott and IHG's structured program of preventive maintenance and repair
• Ensure pool & hot tub chemistry and temperature is in accordance with current health department standards and tracked
• Ensures the safety and security of the hotel grounds and building
• Maintains the hotel grounds and landscaping in a neat and attractive manner
• Develop maintenance procedures and ensure implementation
• Carry out inspections of the facilities to identify and resolve issues
• Check electrical and hydraulic systems of buildings to ensure functionality
• Plan and oversee all repair and installation activities
• Monitor equipment inventory and place orders when necessary
• Monitor expenses and control the budget for maintenance
• Manage relationships with contractors and service providers
• Keep maintenance logs and report on daily activities
• In winter months, ensure timely snow removal and the safety of walkways and parking lots

Qualifications and Education Requirements:

• Experience in planning maintenance operations
• Solid understanding of technical aspects of plumbing, carpentry, electrical systems etc.
• Working knowledge of facilities machines and equipment
• Ability to keep track of and report on activity
• High school diploma or equivalent; Degree from a vocational school or BSc/BA in business administration or facility management will be an advantage
