Job summary

Element by Westin Calgary Downtown seeks a dynamic Chief Engineer to oversee maintenance operations, building systems, and preventative programs. You’ll lead a skilled team to maintain a safe, comfortable hotel environment in line with brand standards and company requirements.

The ideal candidate is a proactive leader with strong technical knowledge, excellent problem-solving skills, and a commitment to operational excellence, sustainability, and guest satisfaction.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of experience in a hotel engineering/maintenance setting.
• Power Engineer certification (4th or 5th class) is required.
• Strong knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical and mechanical systems.
• Excellent troubleshooting, organizational, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead, train, coach, and develop the maintenance team.
• Oversee preventive maintenance programs and safety compliance.
• Manage work orders, inspections, and timely repairs.
• Coordinate with contractors and service providers.
• Ensure guest areas and back-of-house spaces are well maintained and safe.
