Job summary

Coast Victoria Hotel & Marina by APA in Victoria, BC, is seeking a Host to greet guests, seat them, and provide first-class hospitality in our Food & Beverage operations. The role focuses on delivering welcoming, knowledgeable service and supporting smooth dining experiences.

Responsibilities include managing reservations, handling cash and card transactions, maintaining inventory and supplies, and collaborating with colleagues to uphold Coast's quality standards.

Qualifications

• Industry-specific certifications such as FOODSAFE and Serving It Right.
• Professional appearance and attitude.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
• Cash handling experience an asset and ability to multi-task.
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Greet guests, make them feel welcome, and handle basic inquiries.
• Seat guests and provide food/beverage knowledge; manage reservations and transactions.
• Adhere to quality standards and hotel policies.
• Monitor guest satisfaction and follow up on requests when possible.
• Ensure safety and security of guests and staff while performing tasks.

The Host will contribute to the overall success of the hotel by providing superior customer service and upholding quality standards for Coast Hotels Food & Beverage operations.

Responsibilities:

• Acts as an Ambassador for Coast including greeting guests, making them feel welcome, and handling basic inquiries
• Provides customer service by seating guests, providing food and/or beverage product knowledge, managing reservations, handling cash, cheques, credit and debit card transactions in accordance with Hotel Policies
• Adheres to quality and industry standards when completing tasks
• Checks on guest satisfaction and follows up on requests where possible and appropriate
• Ensures the safety and security of the property, the ambassadors and guests when completing tasks
• Stocks supplies and maintains inventory levels
• Demonstrates a customer service attitude with internal / external contacts
• Other duties as required

Skills/Knowledge/Experience:

• Industry-specific certifications such as FOODSAFE and Serving It Right
• Hepatitis A vaccination recommended
• Professional attitude and appearance
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills
• Cash handling experience an asset
• Ability to multi-task
• High attention to detail
• Secondary school diploma preferred
• Strong time management and organizational skills
• Knowledge of health and safety regulations
• Knowledge of menu items
• Ability to work as part of a team and independently
• Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) training an asset

• Able to work a flexible schedule, which includes evenings, weekends and holidays
