Job summary

Coast Hotels is seeking a Host for Prestons Restaurant + Lounge at Coast Coal Harbour Vancouver Hotel by APA in Vancouver. You will welcome guests, assist with seating, and provide knowledge of menu items while upholding Coast Hotels’ standards.

Responsibilities include greeting guests, handling reservations and payments, maintaining service quality, and supporting a safe, well-stocked dining area. Flex hours, including evenings and weekends, are common.

Qualifications

• Excellent communication, interpersonal and customer service abilities are essential.
• Cash handling experience is an asset and helps guest interactions.
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced hospitality environment.
• Strong attention to detail and time management are required.
• Teamwork and independence are both valued in this role.

Responsibilities

• Greet guests and make them feel welcome as a Coast Ambassador.
• Seat guests, provide knowledge of menu items, and assist with reservations and payments.

The Host will contribute to the overall success of the hotel by providing superior customer service and upholding quality standards for Coast Hotels Food & Beverage operations.

Responsibilities:

• Acts as an Ambassador for Coast including greeting guests, making them feel welcome, and handling basic inquiries
• Provides customer service by seating guests, providing food and/or beverage product knowledge, managing reservations, handling cash, cheques, credit and debit card transactions in accordance with Hotel Policies
• Adheres to quality and industry standards when completing tasks
• Checks on guest satisfaction and follows up on requests where possible and appropriate
• Ensures the safety and security of the property, the ambassadors and guests when completing tasks
• Stocks supplies and maintains inventory levels
• Demonstrates a customer service attitude with internal / external contacts
• Other duties as required

Skills/Knowledge/Experience:

• Industry-specific certifications such as FOODSAFE and Serving It Right
• Hepatitis A vaccination recommended
• Professional attitude and appearance
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills
• Cash handling experience an asset
• Ability to multi-task
• High attention to detail
• Secondary school diploma preferred
• Strong time management and organizational skills
• Knowledge of health and safety regulations
• Knowledge of menu items
• Ability to work as part of a team and independently
• Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) training an asset
