Job summary

Oliver & Bonacini is seeking a friendly Host to welcome guests and set the tone at the front of house in our Toronto restaurant. You will manage reservations, seat guests, and coordinate with servers to ensure smooth service.

This role requires Smart Serve certification, strong communication, attention to detail, and the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment. Flexible availability including evenings, weekends, and holidays is expected.

Qualifications

• Valid Smart Serve Certification required.
• Prior experience in a similar role for at least 6 months.
• High attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to remain calm under pressure in a fast-paced setting.
• Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• 1 year of customer service experience preferred.
• Flexible availability including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Legally eligible to work in Canada.

Responsibilities

• Create a warm and inviting atmosphere in person and over the phone.
• Greet and seat guests, ensuring smooth guest flow and rotation.
• Take reservations accurately in person and by phone.
• Maintain a clean, organized host stand and entrance area.
• Understand floor plan and seating layout to seat efficiently.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Job Description

As the first point of contact, our Hosts set the tone for the guest experience with a warm, professional, and welcoming presence. They ensure smooth front-of-house operations by managing guest flow, maximizing seating efficiency, and communicating clearly with all team members. Through attention to detail and exceptional hospitality, Hosts leave a lasting impression on every guest.

The Day-to-Day:

• Create a warm and inviting atmosphere in person and over the phone, even during high-volume periods
• Communicate effectively with Servers, Bartenders, and Managers to maintain optimal guest flow and seating rotation
• Greet and escort guests to their tables while engaging in friendly, professional conversation
• Accurately take and manage reservations both in person and over the phone
• Ensure the front entrance, host stand, and surrounding areas are clean, organized, and fully stocked at all times
• Develop a strong understanding of the floor plan, including table numbers and section layouts, to seat guests efficiently
• Perform additional duties as assigned or required

Qualifications

• Valid Smart Serve Certification Required
• Proven prior experience in a similar position for at least 6 months
• High attention to detail
• Ability to remain calm under pressure while working in a fast-paced environment
• Organizational skills and ability to multi-taskStrong oral and written communication skills
• Ability to maintain a level of professional urgency and momentum
• Minimum 1 year experience in customer service, restaurant experience considered an asset
• Flexible availabilityincludingevenings, weekends and holidays as required.
