Job summary

Oliver & Bonacini in Toronto is seeking a Server Assistant to support Front of House operations. You will maintain a clean dining environment and assist Servers to deliver seamless service, ensuring correct plate delivery and smooth guest experiences.

Reporting to the Front of House Management Team, the role requires attention to detail, strong communication, and the ability to adapt in a fast-paced setting. Evening and weekend availability is required, with daytime shifts as well.

Qualifications

• Smart Serve Certification is required.
• Attention to detail and cleanliness standards are essential.
• Ability to remain calm and composed under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong organizational and time management skills are important.
• Clear and professional oral communication skills are required.
• Solid knowledge of food and beverage offerings, with a willingness to learn.
• Demonstrates a consistent sense of professional urgency and momentum in service delivery.
• Flexible availability evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
• This position requires daytime and evenings availabilities.
• Legally eligible to work in Canada.

Responsibilities

• Answer questions about food, beverages, wine and other restaurant functions and services when necessary.
• Assist with food running, ensuring plates reach guests correctly.
• Monitor section cleanliness and keep areas organized and clutter-free.
• Communicate with Servers and Hosts to maximize seating.
• Maintain a high level of floor awareness and cleanliness.
• Pre-portioned condiments and stocked fridges with milk, cream, etc.
• Monitor food quality and presentation standards.
• Follow all food safety standards and systems.
• Empty garbage and manage disposal of waste and recycling.
• Relay guest feedback to all Servers to ensure a positive experience.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Description

Reporting to the Front of House Management Team the Server Assistants play a key support role in the guest experience by maintaining a clean, organized dining environment and assisting Servers in delivering seamless service. With strong attention to detail and a high level of floor awareness, they ensure all tables are properly set and that food and beverage service is executed to standard.

The day to day:

• Answer questions about food, beverages, wine and other restaurant functions and services when necessary
• Assist with food running, ensuring that plates arrive to the proper guest (no auctioning off)
• Monitor the cleanliness of section and ensure all materials and areas are clean and free from clutter
• Communicate with Servers and Hosts to maximize seating
• Practice a high level of floor awareness and clear/clean as required
• Ensure that condiments are pre-portioned and the fridges are stocked with milk, cream, butter etc.
• Monitor food quality and presentation standards
• Follow all food safety standards and systems
• Empty garbage, change linen bags and dispose of garbage and recycling
• Communicate to all Servers any comments or information provided by guests to ensure a positive, memorable experience
• Other duties as assigned or required
