Job summary

Oliver & Bonacini is seeking a Host to set a welcoming tone and manage guest flow at our front of house in Toronto. You will greet guests, handle reservations, and coordinate with servers to ensure smooth seating and exceptional service.

The role requires Smart Serve certification, prior hosting experience, and strong communication in a fast-paced environment. Evening and weekend availability is needed.

Qualifications

• Valid Smart Serve Certification required.
• Minimum 6 months in a similar role.
• High attention to detail.
• Ability to stay calm under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Flexible availability including evenings, weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Create a warm, inviting atmosphere in person and over the phone.
• Greet and escort guests to tables and manage reservations.
• Coordinate with servers, bartenders, and managers to maintain guest flow.
• Ensure front entrance and host area are clean and stocked.
• Know the floor plan and seating rotation to seat guests efficiently.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Job Description

As the first point of contact, our Hosts set the tone for the guest experience with a warm, professional, and welcoming presence. They ensure smooth front-of-house operations by managing guest flow, maximizing seating efficiency, and communicating clearly with all team members. Through attention to detail and exceptional hospitality, Hosts leave a lasting impression on every guest.

The Day-to-Day:

• Create a warm and inviting atmosphere in person and over the phone, even during high-volume periods
• Communicate effectively with Servers, Bartenders, and Managers to maintain optimal guest flow and seating rotation
• Greet and escort guests to their tables while engaging in friendly, professional conversation
• Accurately take and manage reservations both in person and over the phone
• Ensure the front entrance, host stand, and surrounding areas are clean, organized, and fully stocked at all times
• Develop a strong understanding of the floor plan, including table numbers and section layouts, to seat guests efficiently
• Perform additional duties as assigned or required

Qualifications

• Valid Smart Serve Certification Required
• Proven prior experience in a similar position for at least 6 months
• High attention to detail
• Ability to remain calm under pressure while working in a fast-paced environment
• Organizational skills and ability to multi-task
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Ability to maintain a level of professional urgency and momentum
• Minimum 1 year experience in customer service, restaurant experience considered an asset
• Flexible availabilityincludingevenings, weekends and holidays as required.
• Legally eligible to work in Canada
