Job summary

Canada Homestay Network Society seeks a Host Ambassador for the Red Deer region to qualify host families and uphold CHN standards. Role is permanent part-time, up to 20 hours weekly, with hourly pay between $18.00 and $20.00.

Hybrid work includes in-person visits and remote coordination in Red Deer, Sylvan Lake, Olds and Carstairs. Successful candidate must pass Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector checks, hold a valid driver’s license with adequate auto insurance, have a mobile phone, camera,

Qualifications

• Must pass Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check.
• Must have a valid driver’s license with at least 2 million auto insurance liability coverage.
• Must have a mobile phone and high-speed internet access.
• Strong sales and interpersonal skills with ability to promote CHN Host program.
• Knowledge of CHN policies and procedures and of international student cultures.

About the Host Ambassador position

Reporting to Program Lead, the Host Ambassador is primarily responsible for qualifying new and existing host families that meet Canada Homestay's standard of care.

This is a permanent part-time position (up to 20 hours per week seasonally), compensated with an hourly wage between $18.00 -$20.00.

Our Interview/Home Visit and Revisit Compensation Policy applies for the interview and host file completion.

This is a hybrid role with in-person work in the Red Deer region and surrounding areas, including Sylvan Lake, Olds, and Carstairs.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct in-person interviews/visits (for new hosts) and revisits (for existing hosts) at their homes to ensure the rooms and family environment meet the required standards to validate the information that was given during the virtual interview;
• Email data and supporting documentation (ie. criminal record checks, host agreements, etc.) following all CHN protocols for due diligence and data integrity;

The successful candidate will have

• Excellent sales and interpersonal skills with the willingness and ability to promote and sell the CHN Host program;
• Positive communication skills including conflict resolution;
• Ability to work in a team and maintain and develop relationships with colleagues and their local community;
• Working knowledge of utilizing an email client or webmail;
• Effective business writing skills, strong problem solving and organizational skills, including attention to detail;
• Knowledge of CHN policies and procedures;
• Knowledge of international students and their cultures;

This role requires the successful candidate to clear a Criminal Record Check, and vulnerable sector check, to have a full and valid drivers license with a reliable vehicle that has at least 2 million auto insurance liability coverage, a mobile phone for emergency support, a digital camera, and access to high-speed internet.
