Responsibilities
  1. Ensure overall project responsibility, compliance with a comprehensive P3 service agreement.
  2. Plan, design, develop, coordinate, manage, and evaluate facilities, capital projects, and support services (Patient Food Services, Materials Management, Parking, Grounds Maintenance, Retail Food Services).
  3. Lead projects to provide safe, high-quality services that support exceptional patient care and maintain hospital assets, including buildings, infrastructure, and equipment, in a safe and efficient manner.
  4. Manage day-to-day operations of a multidisciplinary team to achieve high performance standards.
  5. Act as liaison with the Client on all operational aspects.
  6. Oversee and ensure all service contract deliverables are met.
  7. Collaborate with hospital leadership, department heads, and external partners for aligned facility operations and service delivery.
  8. Oversee planning, project management, operations, and facilities services.
  9. Provide expert advice, monitor performance, and maintain detailed records of infrastructure, equipment, and technical information.
  10. Review departmental workload regularly to ensure cost-effective, high-quality service.
  11. Establish policies, procedures, and performance measures to guarantee service quality and timely delivery.
  12. Identify opportunities for continuous improvement, implementing best practices and innovative solutions.
  13. Develop and manage the Annual Service Plan and Monthly operational reports.
  14. Create and manage capital planning strategies aligned with organizational goals.
  15. Monitor expenditure, cost recovery, and performance to optimize budget use.
  16. Ensure compliance with all relevant legislations, standards, and guidelines, including environmental, health, safety, and building standards.
  17. Recruit, manage, and evaluate management and supervisory staff.
  18. Handle staff requirements, employee development, recruitment, succession planning, and disciplinary matters.
Is this the right role for you?
  • Possess a professional engineering designation, master’s degree in business administration or related field, or a combination of relevant education and leadership experience in health sector management.
  • Minimum of ten (10) years of facilities management experience in a healthcare setting at the Manager/Director level.
  • Experience managing in a P3 and unionized environment.
  • Experience overseeing hard and soft services in large acute care hospitals.
  • Experience with capital budgets, financial modeling, and contract management.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of management principles, human resources, and collective agreements.
  • Knowledge of building systems, Occupational Health and Safety Act, and relevant legislation.
  • Understanding of quality management systems in healthcare.
  • Ability to benchmark KPIs for services and costs.
  • Strong planning and performance management skills.
  • Effective communication and engagement skills with staff.
  • Proficiency in business applications.
