Job summary

March of Dimes Canada is hiring 2 Part-Time Personal Care Attendants for the Outreach Attendant Services Program in Pembroke-Renfrew East Region. Flexible schedule includes mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays, up to 30 hours per week.

Responsibilities include assisting clients at home with daily living activities, personal care, transfers, meal prep, and light housekeeping while maintaining dignity, privacy, and safety.

Qualifications

  • Valid driver’s license and/or reliable transportation required.
  • High School graduate or equivalent.
  • Current Standard First Aid and CPR certification or willingness to obtain.
  • Experience with individuals with disabilities or as a caregiver is an asset but not required.
  • Good interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

  • Assists consumers in their homes with non-medical activities of daily living as per service plans.
  • Performs personal care, transfers, rising/retiring.
  • Assists with bowel and bladder procedures and meal preparation.
  • Implements range of motion exercises and light housekeeping.
  • Maintains professional conduct, respecting privacy and safety.

This Opportunity

We are currently looking to fill 2 Part-Time- Personal Care Attendant roles known internally as Support Service Attendant in our Outreach Attendant Services Program in (Pembroke-Renfrew East Region)

Schedule:

Flexible schedule including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays, <30 hours per week.

Starting wage

$19.24, with paid travel time and mileage @ .63cent/km. This position is eligible for the $3.00 per hour temporary wage enhancement from the Ontario government for hours spent directly supporting clients.

Hours:

up to 30 per week

Duties include the following:
  • Assists consumers in their own homes with non-medical activities of daily living in accordance with individual service plans and with March of Dimes Canada policies and procedures:
  • Personal care
  • Lifts and Transfers
  • Rising/retiring
  • Bowel and bladder procedures
  • Meal preparation and feeding
  • Range of motion exercises
  • Other light housekeeping duties
  • Performs duties in a professional manner, which respects the dignity and right to privacy and maintains consumer and staff health and safety.

March of Dimes Canada provides 24-hour attendant care to its clients. Support Services Attendants work a variety of shifts (i.e., weekdays, evenings, weekends, and holidays) that vary between locations.

Background / Qualifications:
  • Valid driver’s license and/or reliable transportation REQUIRED
  • High School graduate or equivalent
  • Current Standard First Aid and CPR certification or willingness to obtain
  • Experience working with individuals with physical disabilities, older adults, or as an informal caregiver considered an asset but not required
  • Good interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Physical Demands Self Analysis Required upon hire
  • Ability to work flexible and regularly scheduled hours
