Job summary

ParaMed in Ontario is seeking Home Support Workers to travel across Essex County, including Amherstburg, Harrow, Colchester, McGregor, and Lasalle to assist seniors in their homes. You will provide essential daily living support with empathy and respect for independence.

After completing a 3-week in-class training, you will be eligible for part-time hours and benefits, with union support through SEIU Local 1 Canada.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver license and access to a vehicle.
• Willingness to visit patient residences within a designated area.
• Experience working with seniors is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Travel from patient to patient completing several home visits per day.
• Prepare meals and assist with meal-time.
• Basic housekeeping duties.
• Provide companionship and support the well-being of patients.
• Assist with personal hygiene care including showering and bathing.
• Support for basic activities of daily living.

We are currently looking for Home Support Workers to join our team travelling throughout Essex County.

Must be willing to travel home to home throughout Amherstburg, Harrow Colchester, McGregor, Lasalle and surrounding towns.

As a Home Support Worker, you will assist people in your community to live safely in their homes by supporting them with daily tasks and self-care activities.

You will receive free and paid training in a full time 3 week in-class program designed to teach you the skills needed to work as a Home Support Worker. Upon graduation you will be eligible for part-time hours and benefits.

What you’ll do:

• Travel from patient to patient completing several home visits per day

• Prepare meals and assist with meal-time

• Ability to work every other weekend

• Experience working with seniors and/or children is an asset

• Ability to pass or satisfy a Criminal Background screening upon hire

• Previous experience performing personal hygiene care is an asset but not necessary

• Valid driver license and access to a vehicle

• High school diploma or equivalent

Salary: LHIN Funded PSS Rates as per Collective Agreement
