Job summary

Hatch is offering a Winter 2027 Co-Op in Highway CAD Design based in Mississauga, Ontario. You will collaborate with project managers on highway design tasks, contribute to preliminary and detailed designs, and gain hands-on experience with civil engineering software.

You will work in a dynamic, globally connected team, receive mentorship, and participate in local and global projects. Candidates must be enrolled in Civil Engineering Technology or a related program and bring CAD experience.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in Civil Engineering Technology or Technician from an accredited College.
• Experience with AutoCAD.
• Working knowledge of Civil 3D, MicroStation or Open Roads Designer is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Work with project managers to accomplish various tasks on highway design projects (preliminary and detailed design).
• Assist project managers and/or engineers with preparation of design and contract documents including technical specifications.
• Prepare reports and document project activities and data.

Hatch Highways and Bridges group is currently seeking a talented Co-Op Student with interests in Highway CAD Design for the Winter 2027 semester. In this role, you will be based in our Mississaugaoffice and have the opportunity to work on high profile projects including a variety of highway planning and design assignments being undertaken on behalf of the Ministry of Transportation Ontario (MTO) or for municipalities throughout the Province of Ontario. You’ll also be actively participating and learning drafting work for civil engineering projects that may include roadway geometric design, intersections/ interchanges, roadside safety analysis, design of pavement marking and signage, traffic staging design, and quantity calculations.

As the successful candidate, you will:

• Work with project managers to accomplish various tasks associated with various projects;


• Participation in the highway design projects (including preliminary and detailed design);


• Assistance to project managers and/or engineers with preparation of design and contract documents including technical and other project specifications;


• Prepare reports and document project activities and data;


• Be progressive, imaginative, and enthusiastic in the work and strive to add value where possible for the benefit of the company and our clients.

You bring to the role:

• Currently enrolled in Civil Engineering Technology or Technician from an accredited College;


• Experience with AutoCAD;


• Working knowledge of Civil 3D, MicroStation or Open Roads Designer is an asset;


• Good technical and communication skills are a necessity;


• Positive mindset and ability to collaborate in a team environment;


• Ability to complete assigned tasks efficiently and meet project deadlines.

Compensation:

Range: $24.00 - $27.00
