Job summary

Hatch Ltd. in Thunder Bay, Ontario, is seeking a Senior Highway Engineer to lead the design and delivery of major highway projects in Northern Ontario.

Based in Thunder Bay, you will mentor engineers and contribute to planning, design and delivery of complex transportation networks. You will work on arterial road projects, collaborate with project managers, and ensure compliance with Ontario design standards for MTO and municipal projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
• Professional Engineering designation in Ontario is required.
• 10–15 years’ experience in highway and road design.
• Experience in a consulting engineering environment.
• Experience with Inroads, AutoCAD and Civil 3D is mandatory.

Responsibilities

• Work with project managers to accomplish tasks across multiple projects.
• Preliminary and detailed design of arterial roads, highways and freeways (alignments, geometrics, staging, utilities, roadside safety).
• Checking designs, drawings, quantity calculations, and contract preparation.

As Hatch continues to grow its presence in Northern Ontario, we are seeking an experienced Senior Highway Engineer to play a key role in delivering some of the region's most impactful transportation infrastructure projects. Based in Thunder Bay, you will contribute to the planning, design, and delivery of complex highway and roadway projects while helping shape the future of transportation networks across Northern Ontario.

Recently, Hatch was selected by Marten Falls First Nation as its engineering and project management partner for the transformative Marten Falls Community Access Road, a landmark Northern Ontario infrastructure project that will provide year-round access to the community for the first time while supporting economic development, Indigenous partnership, and future regional growth.

Responsibilities

• Work with project managers to accomplish various tasks associated with various projects;
• Preliminary and detailed design of arterial roads, highways and freeways (alignments, geometrics, staging, utilities, roadside safety);
• Checking of designs, drawings, quantity calculations, contract preparation;
• Construction inspection and preparation of reports;

Qualifications

• B.S. Degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited University;
• 10-15 years' experience with highway and road design;
• Professional Engineering Designation in Ontario is required;
• Experience in consulting engineering environment;
• Experience utilizing Inroads is mandatory;
• Familiarity with AutoCAD and Civil 3D;
• Experience working on MTO projects /designs is mandatory;
• Must have sound knowledge of current engineering principles, methods, and practices;
• Excellent technical and communication skills are a necessity;
• Ability to work on several projects concurrently;

Pay range: $89,000 to $124,000

Your individual compensation within this range will depend on factors such as skills, experience, qualifications and location.
