Job summary

LEA Consulting in Markham, Ontario is seeking a Highway Designer to support the planning, design, and delivery of highway infrastructure projects within the Civil Division. You will develop technical design deliverables, coordinate with engineers, designers, and managers, and apply transportation engineering principles to ensure successful project completion.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Engineering internship, co-op placement, or professional highway design experience; MTO highway projects asset.
• Strong understanding of TAC, MTO, OPSD, and AODA requirements.
• Experience using AutoCAD, MicroStation, Civil 3D, and/or OpenRoads/InRoads.
• Strong organizational skills; ability to manage priorities and multiple project activities.

Responsibilities

• Support the detailed design of highway infrastructure projects in accordance with TAC and MTO manuals, design standards, guidelines, and project requirements.
• Prepare highway design deliverables including geometric design, alignments, staging, pavement markings, signage, roadside safety, and constructability considerations.
• Apply transportation engineering principles and design standards to support delivery of highway projects.
• Prepare quantity takeoffs and assist with cost estimates and technical documentation.
• Review design drawings for compliance with applicable standards and project requirements.
• Collaborate with Project Engineers, Designers, and Project Managers on design coordination and project planning.
• Contribute to preparation of project specifications and other technical deliverables.
• Participate in mentorship to develop understanding of project delivery processes.
