The High Voltage Field Services Technologist will be responsible for working with team members in the safe execution of field services duties.
The Technologist will perform field services duties including, but not limited to, acceptance/maintenance testing and inspection of electrical power installations such as: switchgears, circuit breakers, power transformers, instrument transformers, protective relays, insulation systems, etc. Other duties include reading and marking up electrical drawings and schematics and assisting with construction work of small-scale electrical installations (such as protective relay retrofits). Understanding and familiarity of NETA Acceptance/Maintenance standards is a core requirement of the field services technologist.
What will you do as a High Voltage Field Services Technologist?
- Maintain safety certifications such as First Aid, H2S Alive, Fall Arrest, etc. Read mandatory eCompliance documents and complete eCompliance training.
- Follow/comprehend the company and client safety protocols and procedures before reaching the site and during site work. Work with the team lead to eliminate hazards, implement engineering and administrative controls that are required.
- As a team member, follow required safety protocols and procedures.
- Work safely and effectively on low, medium, and high voltage electrical installations in a variety of environments, both indoor and outdoor.
- Follow NETA Acceptance and Maintenance standards.
- Be comfortable working with various hand tools and electrical test equipment types and brands.
- Responsible for filling out project paperwork (i.e. eCompliance documents, daily project summaries, test forms, deficiency lists, etc.)
- Follow the team lead’s direction and help guide the assigned project to successful completion.
- Accept technical advice or guidance from senior team members regarding processes and procedures.
- Perform other duties as requested by the team lead (expanded scope, housekeeping, mustering, etc.).
- Interact with clients in a courteous and professional manner.
- Help with the preparation of tools, equipment, and materials for each job.
- Under direction from the team lead, responsible for writing and compiling reports. Ensure reports are complete and accurately reflect the scope of work and findings. Request review of the draft report by the Technical Manager.

- Minimum 2 years of field experience in a similar position.
- NETA Level I or II considered an asset.

- Intermediate computer skills.
- Valid driver’s license and suitable driving record.
