Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologist I

Job Overview

As a Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) Technologist I, you will produce and record magnetic resonance images for interpretation by a Radiologist or Cardiologist for diagnosis and tracking of disease and pathology. You will produce high-quality diagnostic MRI images as ordered by a Physician, prepare and position patients for examination, review patient history, explain procedures, respond to the physical and psychological needs of patients throughout the scanning process, and maintain MRI equipment.

Employment Details

Salary

Minimum $38.75, Maximum $49.81

Qualifications

Required:

• Completion of diploma from an accredited MRI Program or a certificate from an accredited MRI Technologist program plus a diploma in Medical Radiology, Diagnostic Medical Sonography, Nuclear Medicine, or Radiation Therapy.
• Active or eligible for registration with the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT).
• Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Healthcare Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Additional:

• Successful completion of CAMRT registry exam in MRI.
• Registration/eligibility with the Alberta College of Medical Diagnostic and Therapeutic Technologists (ACMDTT).
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
• Excellent judgment, tact, and courtesy.
• Ability to work under pressure and in emergency situations.
• Effective communication in English.
• Practices infection control and MRI safety techniques.

Preferred:

• ACMDTT enhanced practice for Venipuncture and Medication Administration.
• Minimum 2 years' experience in an acute care setting.
