Job summary

West Coast Reduction Ltd. is seeking a Hide Labourer to safely operate equipment, grade and trim hides, and manage brining tanks to ensure high-quality production.

The role requires adapting to adverse conditions including confined spaces, heights, and cold weather, with attention to cleanliness and safety. Qualifications

• Valid Class 5 Driver’s Licence is an asset.
• 1–2 years of experience in a hide plant or similar environment is an asset.
• Hides/skins knowledge and knife skills are an asset.
• Proficiency in English, both written and verbal.
• Ability to read diagrams, schematics and manuals.
• Able to frequently move, lift up to 100 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Receive and unload incoming hides from conveyances.
• Grade, sort, and trim hides to meet or exceed expectations.
• Load and unload hide brining tanks safely and efficiently.
• Trans load SRM removed carcasses as required.
• Maintain tools and equipment used in the hide process.
• Monitor brine salinity by adding salt and silchlorozene as needed.
• Perform pre-trip inspection checks of mobile equipment.
• Load outbound hide trucks using mobile equipment.
• Adhere to cleanliness and safe handling of materials.
• Perform shift work and possible overtime per business needs.
