Job summary

Western Forest Products is seeking fully qualified Heavy Duty Mechanics to join our Timberlands operations in Holberg, BC. This position offers a union wage rate of $54.56 per hour plus trade premiums and includes a $7,000 signing bonus with relocation assistance.

The role operates on a 5x2 afternoon shift, with 8-hour days and a pre-employment drug test required for successful candidates. Health, dental, pension, and a safe work environment are provided through the union.

Job description

Western Forest Products is currently seeking fully qualified Heavy Duty Mechanics to join our Timberlands operations located in Holberg, BC.

Shifts:

This position is currently on a 5x2 afternoon shift, 5 days on and 2 days off, 8 hours per day.

This role is considered safety sensitive; all successful candidates will be subject to a pre-employment drug test.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience

• Must be fully ticketed Red Seal HD Mechanic;
• All applicants must have a valid BC driver's license and be able to provide a driver's abstract;
• Preference may be given to the applicant holding a valid OFA Level 3 Certificate.

Skills, Knowledge and Required Competencies

• Preference will be given to those with experience in west coast logging equipment (Yarders, Log Loaders, Hydraulic Log Loaders & Highway Logging Trucks);
• Highly developed machine diagnostic and repair skills are a benefit;
• Must be a self-starter and be able to work with minimal supervision;
• Excellent safety record and strong work ethic.
