Job summary

Hitachi Energy Canada Inc. is hiring for a Production & Skilled Trades role in Stoney Creek, Ontario. You will assist with transformer repair, perform basic mechanical tasks, and support shipping/receiving while learning from experienced tradespeople.

This full-time position requires physical work and rotating shifts every two weeks. The role offers hands-on experience with tools and equipment, with a focus on safety, quality, and teamwork.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience in a semi-skilled trade is preferred.
• Ability to read drawings and bills of materials.
• Physically capable of lifting, bending, pushing and pulling.
• Team-oriented with good communication.
• WAH training and forklift/MEWP licenses are assets.

Responsibilities

• Assist transformer repair operations under supervision.
• Perform basic mechanical and logistical tasks following procedures.
• Operate forklifts and cranes as needed.
• Pick up and deliver materials using shop truck.
• Support shipping and receiving activities.
• Maintain clean, organized work areas and proper disposal.
• Label and store dismantled materials accurately.
• Monitor dry air pressure on stored units.
• Contribute to safety and quality improvements in the facility.

The Opportunity

Join a collaborative and supportive team focused on transformer repair. In this role, you’ll assist skilled tradespeople and support shipping/receiving operations. You’ll gain hands-on experience with tools, equipment, and procedures. You’ll learn from experienced team members and grow your technical and organizational skills. Starting salary: 31.53$ / hour. Must be willing to work on rotational shifts every 2 weeks (Monday to Friday 7:00 am - 3:30 pm and Monday to Thursday 3:30 pm - 2:00 am)

How you’ll make an impact

• Assist with transformer repair operations, under the direction of the supervisor or other repairmen.
• Perform basic mechanical and logistical tasks, following predetermined procedures.
• Operate forklifts and cranes when required.
• Pick up and deliver materials and equipment using shop truck.
• Support shipping and receiving when needed.
• Maintain clean and organized work areas, dispose of garbage/recycling in accordance with local environmental standards.

Your background
