Job summary

Cooper Equipment Rentals in Airdrie, AB is seeking a capable Heavy Equipment Technician to inspect, service and maintain our diverse fleet in a fast-paced shop and on customer jobsites.

You will diagnose equipment malfunctions, perform repairs, and document inspections and work orders while upholding safety standards and quality workmanship.

Qualifications

• Red Seal / Journeyperson license or 3rd year apprentice required.
• Experience with diverse construction equipment and diagnostics.
• Own tools and valid driver’s license with clean abstract.
• Strong problem-solving, safety focus and teamwork.
• Willing to work overtime and maintain documentation.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, service and maintain a diverse fleet of equipment in shop and on sites.
• Diagnose malfunctions and perform repairs, test repaired equipment.
• Maintain accurate documentation of inspections and work orders.

What You’ll Be Doing

Duties and Responsibilities

• Inspect, service and maintain a diverse fleet of construction equipment including earth-moving, compact and aerial equipment both in the shop and on customer jobsites.
• Diagnose equipment malfunctions and make required repairs, testing repaired equipment for proper performance.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of inspections, maintenance and work orders.
• Contribute to a professional and safe work environment by keeping the shop and yard clean, and following all company policies and procedures, and safety requirements.

Qualifications And Requirements

What You’ll Bring to the Team

• Red Seal / Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Technician License (421A or 310T) or minimum 3rd year apprentice is required.
• Experience working on a variety of construction equipment.
• Valid Class 5/G driver’s license with clean or satisfactory driver’s abstract (no more than 3 demerit points). You will be required to provide a copy of your updated driver’s abstract upon request.
• Must have own tools.
• Available and willing to work over-time as needed.
• Strong understanding of computer applications and diagnostic tools.
• Expertise in diesel and gas engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems.
• Highly adaptable and thrives in a fast-paced environment.
• Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team.
• Excellent problem-solving and organizational skills.
• Demonstrated commitment to safety, with a strong focus on following procedures and promoting a safe work environment.
• Eagerness to continuously learn and stay up to date with emerging technology
• Physical stamina and ability to stand for long periods.Must be able to lift approximately 50 lbs.
