Job summary

Nors in Winnipeg, MB is seeking a Heavy Equipment Technician - Lead Hand to support the Service Manager with daily planning, diagnostics, and hands-on repairs in the shop and on the road.

You will mentor apprentices, uphold safety, and lead a small team with a calm, decisive leadership style. This full-time role offers a competitive package, health and dental benefits, and an RRSP plan.

Qualifications

• Red Seal Heavy Equipment Technician certification required.

We are looking for a Heavy Equipment Technician - Lead hand to join our Serviceteam in Winnipeg, MB.

Salary Range

• $47.00/hour

What's the challenge?

As our Lead Hand (shop and field), you’ll play an important role in helping the Service Manager with day-to-day planning, organization, and workflow. You’ll take on major diagnostics and repairs, and be hands‑on with daily shop repairs. You’re counted on to provide top‑quality leadership and service, while following the company’s established policies and procedures. In this role, you’ll also help develop and coach apprentices.

• Keeping Your Cool. You may need to work under pressure while maintaining a strong focus on communication and quality service. You will have an abundance of patience. This can be a physical job with heavy lifting and carrying. The pace can be fast, the hours can be long during busy cycles, and you may also need to work overtime. You will also realize that you need to recharge regularly – we insist that you take your vacation time!
• Mentorship. Listen actively and perform competence analysis of apprentice technicians. Identify areas for them to improve and provide on the job training to assist in their development.
• Organization. This is a detail‑oriented position and you have already developed personal systems for organizing your work and organizing the techs on your team.
