Job summary

Cooper Equipment Rentals Limited is seeking a driven diesel mechanic to inspect, service and maintain a diverse fleet of construction equipment. You will perform preventative maintenance, diagnose malfunctions and repair systems to ensure safe, reliable operation.

You will mentor apprentices, keep thorough maintenance records and uphold safety standards in a fast-paced shop environment in Burlington, ON. Valid driver’s license and own tools required.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of mechanical experience on construction equipment.
• Valid Class G driver’s license with clean or satisfactory abstract (no more than 3 demerit points).
• Must provide a copy of updated driver’s abstract upon request.
• Must have own tools.
• Willing to work overtime as needed.
• Strong understanding of computer applications and diagnostic tools.
• Expertise in diesel and gas engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems.
• Thrives in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong teamwork and communication with customers and colleagues.
• Self-starter and able to work independently with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, service and maintain a diverse fleet of construction equipment including earth-moving, compact and aerial equipment.
• Perform preventative maintenance, diagnose equipment malfunctions and make required repairs.
• Test repaired equipment for proper performance.
• Mentor apprentices and new hires as needed, providing guidance, training and support.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of inspections, maintenance and work orders.
• Contribute to a professional and safe work environment by keeping the shop and yard clean, and following all company policies and procedures, and safety requirements.
