SMS Equipment is seeking a Heavy Equipment Technician, 3rd/4th Year Apprentice, to join our Surrey, BC branch. You will diagnose and repair construction equipment, perform troubleshooting, and support both shop and field operations while upholding safety standards.

Qualifications

• 3rd/4th year apprentice status in Heavy Equipment Technician trade.
• Strong mechanical problem-solving skills and a commitment to safe, high-quality work.
• Ability to work independently and communicate effectively in both team and customer-facing settings.

Responsibilities

• Diagnosing and repairing construction equipment.
• Performing troubleshooting and major component replacements in shop and field environments.
• Working with hydraulic and powertrain systems.
• Ensuring timely, high-quality repairs whether working independently or in a team.
• Following all safety procedures, including confined space and PPE requirements.
• Make recommendations regarding the extent of repairs and suggest methods of improvement.
