Job summary

SECURE in Edmonton, Alberta, is hiring a Heavy Duty Mechanic to maintain a fleet of heavy trucks, trailers, and off-road equipment. This full-time, day-shift role (7AM-4PM) is shop-based with some field work.

You will lead repairs, perform preventive maintenance, read technical manuals, and ensure safety compliance. Our safety-first team emphasizes cross-training, teamwork, and career growth within the metal recycling and waste management operations.

Qualifications

• Journeyman’s Certification in Heavy Equipment Technician or equivalent credentials/work experience as per provincial guidelines
• Open to 3rd year apprentices seeking to complete certification
• Minimum 3–5 years of related industry experience or demonstrated competency
• Welding experience is an asset
• Valid Class 5 Driver’s License with clean record (air brake endorsement preferred)
• Ability to complete safety documentation accurately and timely
• Strong knowledge of maintenance, servicing, diagnosing, and repairing heavy equipment
• Ability to read technical manuals and understand work orders
• Ability to test repaired equipment for proper performance and ensure compliance with specs

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate repairs and preventive maintenance for a fleet of heavy trucks, trailers, and off-road equipment
• Perform routine maintenance such as oil and filter changes
• Diagnose issues using hydraulic and mechanical knowledge
• Inspect and test systems to prevent future failures
• Maintain a clean, organized shop and yard
• Ensure safety policies are followed and participate in safety meetings
