Job summary

Suncor Energy Inc. is hiring for a heavy equipment operator to join our Syncrude operation in Fort McMurray. You will operate haul trucks, shovels, backhoes, dozers, and graders, with a six days on / six days off schedule and 12-hour shifts.

Relocation support is provided, and a strong safety mindset is required. A valid license and a clean driving record are necessary to contribute to a safe, efficient mining operation.

Qualifications

• 3 years of heavy equipment experience operating cable or hydraulic shovels, excavators, dozers, graders, or haul trucks in an open pit mine.
• High School Diploma or GED or 10 years of relevant work experience.
• Valid driver’s license with a 2-year clean driving record.
• Proven safety mindset and ability to concentrate for long periods.

Responsibilities

• Operate haul trucks, shovels, backhoes, dozers, and graders per standards.
• Complete walk-arounds, safety checks and risk assessments; report issues promptly.
• Train and mentor others.
• Report repairs to maintenance and incidents immediately.
• Participate in continuous improvement programs.
