Job Posting: Heavy Duty Mechanic
Location: Remote Fly-in Camp, Nunavut
Rotation: 3 weeks on, 3 weeks off
Background Checks: Drug & Alcohol screening and criminal record check will be conducted
Position Overview:
We are seeking a skilled Heavy Duty Mechanic to fulfill a crucial role for one of our esteemed clients at a remote fly-in camp in Nunavut. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the maintenance and repair of heavy machinery used in mining operations, ensuring optimal performance and adherence to safety standards.
In this position, you will be a vital part of the team at remote camps, ensuring that all equipment is properly maintained and serviced. You will report to the Team Lead and/or Camp Manager. Experience with CAT equipment is required, along with proficiency in CAT ET and SIS Systems. This role involves working in a remote camp environment with a fly-in/fly-out schedule on a 21-day rotation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain equipment availability by executing preventive maintenance schedules, performing upgrades, managing corrosion control, and completing winterization tasks
- Troubleshoot and resolve equipment deficiencies by disassembling, repairing, adjusting, overhauling, and reassembling major components and assemblies, including electrical systems and alignments
- Work with various heavy machinery, including Loaders, Dozers, Excavators, Graders, SnowCats, and both light and heavy-duty trucks
- Assess vehicle performance through test drives and make necessary adjustments
- Ensure vehicles are clean and well-maintained
- Keep accurate records of services and repairs for all vehicles
- Ensure workshop equipment remains operational by adhering to instructions, troubleshooting issues, performing preventive maintenance, and managing supplies
- Be prepared to work in remote locations outside of a shop setting
- Arctic experience is a plus
- Manage inventory by tracking supplies, placing orders, and verifying deliveries
- Participate in daily toolbox meetings
- Uphold corporate safety standards in the work environment and report any unsafe conditions to your supervisor

Preferred Qualifications:
- Journeyperson-Certified Heavy-Duty Mechanic/Interprovincial Red Seal Certification
- 3-5 years of experience in the maintenance and care of mining equipment
- Previous experience in a remote camp setting is preferred
