Fort Garry Industries has an exciting opportunity for a Heavy Duty Mechanic to join our team at our Edmonton location.

What You Will Do:

  • Repair and replace hydraulic pumps, safety valves, and any other necessary mechanical components
  • Perform incidental welding operations on steel and/or aluminum equipment
  • Diagnose defects in heavy duty equipment and perform required mechanical repairs
  • Perform repairs & preventative maintenance services on heavy/medium trucks and trailers
  • Diagnose & troubleshoot mechanical & electrical failures
  • Ensure documentation is complete and accurate.
  • Uphold and embody FGI Customer Service Standards and Core Values with customers, colleagues and stakeholders
  • Champion FGI's safety culture by performing all duties within established procedures and practices
  • Other duties as assigned

What We Require:

  • 3rd year heavy duty mechanic apprentice required. Journeyman preferred.
  • MUST BE ABLE to meet the physical requirements: Lift up to 75lbs, able to work while kneeling/squatting and crouching, work at varying heights and enclosed areas
  • Demonstrated understanding of highway truck and automotive wiring
  • Install experience for plow, sanders, dump boxes etc. as asset
  • Excellent Customer Service skills – dedicated to exceeding expectations of internal and external customers.
  • Strong written and verbal skills – ability to write and speak succinctly with customers and colleagues.
  • Basic to proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (email, word, excel) and ability to learn in-house systems.
