Position Details

Job Title: Apprentice/Journeyman Heavy Duty Mechanic

Location: Greater Edmonton Region

Reports to: Shop Foreman

Responsibilities

• Participate in safety and 6S programs and adhere to all safety protocols.
• Report unsafe conditions or incidents promptly.
• Improve operations and streamline work processes.
• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair heavy-duty equipment both on and off-road.
• Perform repairs, overhauls, and equipment testing.
• Install new equipment and perform road-side repairs as needed.
• Maintain detailed maintenance records and stay updated on technology changes.

Qualifications and Skills

• Red Seal Journeyman’s certificate required.
• Experience with hydraulics, electrical systems, and diagnostics.
• Routine maintenance experience.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work under pressure with attention to detail.
• Valid Class 5 driver’s license; Class 3 with Air Endorsement is an asset.

Working Conditions

• Travel to various sites required.
• Potential for overtime, weekend shifts, and on-call rotations.
• Work indoors and outdoors, day/night shifts, and out-of-town rotations.
• Meet all safety and drug testing requirements.
