Job summary

Finning Canada is urgently hiring multiple Journeyperson Heavy Duty Mechanics to support our customer in the Elk Valley, in a field role repairing CAT mining equipment. You will troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems and perform preventative maintenance on ultra-class Caterpillar mining machines.

Based in Elkford, BC, the position offers a 7x7 continuous shift, a $63.33–$69.59/hr wage (probationary to full rate with premiums), and benefits including pension, time off, and

Qualifications

• Interprovincial Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Certification required.
• Clean Drivers’ Abstract (5 yr) required.
• 3+ years experience as Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Technician in the field.
• Strong electrical, hydraulic and emissions system skills.
• Engine rebuilding experience would be beneficial.
• Transmission or hydraulic testing experience.
• Gas engine and power generation experience an asset.

Job Description

Take on a role where your skills and passion keep the heavy iron moving. As a Field Heavy Duty Mechanic, you’ll troubleshoot and perform running repairs on mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems and perform preventative maintenance across a wide range of Caterpillar Mining Equipment.

Your work will include:

• Troubleshoot, repair and maintain CAT equipment in a field environment
• Respond to customer needs in a positive, supportive, and timely manner to ensure maximum value for work performed.
• Diagnose faults or malfunctions using computerized and other testing equipment to determine extent of repair required
• Completing required paperwork and maintaining clear customer communication

Specific Skills & Experience

• Interprovincial Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Certification
• Clean Drivers’ Abstract (5 yr)
• 3+ years experience as a Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Technician, with demonstrated time in the field
• Strong skills in Electrical, Hydraulic and Emissions systems
• Engine and/or component rebuilding experience would be beneficial
• Transmission or Hydraulic testing experience
• Previous gas engine and power generation experience would be considered an asset

Important Details

• 7 x 7 Continuous Shift based in Elkford, BC
• $300/month LOA (Commuters/non-residents (80+ km away) who provide own housing)
• A condition of employment includes the ability to obtain Customer Site access (Drug & Alcohol, fitness testing) and wear a respirator where applicable
