Job summary

DMC Mining Services is seeking Heavy Duty Mechanics for contract work in Sudbury, ON. The mechanic will execute equipment repairs and maintenance on surface and underground gear. Knowledge of fixed plant equipment is an asset.

The ideal candidates should have an Ontario Secondary School Diploma and Heavy Duty Equipment Mechanic Certification. The position offers a salary range of $20 to $28 CAD per hour plus bonuses, and a comprehensive benefits and retirement plan.

Qualifications

• Prove competency through in-house training and testing.

Job description

DMC Mining Services is seeking Heavy Duty Mechanics for contract work in Sudbury, ON. The mechanic will execute equipment repairs, maintenance, and troubleshooting on surface and underground gear. Knowledge of fixed plant and shaft sinking equipment is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Perform quality maintenance work as directed by supervisor.
• Follow company policies and procedures.
• Understand occupational health and safety act regulation 854 Mines and Mining Plants.
• Understand operation of diagnostic equipment and measuring tools, read and interpret results.
• Inspect, diagnose, and troubleshoot equipment in compliance with OEM standards.
• Read procedures, prints for diagnostic process provided by OEM.
• Read electrical and hydraulic prints.
• Record defective items and supply parts list per DMC work order procedures.
• Follow standard safety operating procedures.
• Demonstrate commitment to continued improvement of Health, Safety and Environment.
• Have a complete personal basic trade tool inventory of recognized quality.
• Ensure all direct reports in the workplace take responsibility for Occupational Health, Safety and Environment over which they have control, including adherence to OHS&E requirements applicable to DMC Mining Services.
• Other related duties as may be assigned.

Qualifications, Skills, and Knowledge

• Ontario Secondary School Diploma (preferred).
• Post-Secondary Education in Heavy Duty Equipment Technician/Techniques (preferred).
• Heavy Duty Equipment Mechanic Certificate/License or Equivalent (preferred).
• Prove competency through in-house training and testing.
• 3 to 5 years of underground experience.
• Experience working on various equipment and machinery (both underground and surface) (preferred).
• Reliable, self-motivated with good work ethic.
• Experienced and comfortable working at heights.
• Welding & fabrication experience (asset).
• Hoist experience (asset).
