Job summary

Redpath Canada Limited in Sudbury, ON is seeking an experienced Mechanic to perform preventive maintenance and repairs on diesel, electrical, hydraulic and air-operated equipment used in underground operations. Responsibilities include diagnosing faults, following safety procedures, and completing maintenance check sheets.

The successful candidate will have 5+ years underground mechanical experience and familiarity with Maclean bolters, Cat scooptrams, Sandvik Jumbo tooling, with a 7 days on / 7

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years underground mechanical experience.
• Maintenance experience on Maclean bolter, Cat scooptram/haulage truck, Sandvik Split Feed Jumbo, and related equipment.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Welding experience would be an asset.

Responsibilities

• Follow proper procedures to ensure safety and to prevent equipment damage.
• Provide skilled mechanical work diagnosing, repairing and maintaining a variety of mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical systems.
• Accurately fill out preventative maintenance check sheets.
• Comprehend written and verbal instructions to perform duties safely and efficiently.
• Perform diagnostic testing to identify problems using OEM schematics and programs.
• Use a mechanical work order system to track repairs.
• Familiar with underground braking regulations and testing.
• Adjust equipment and replace defective parts; test for proper performance.
• Comply with safety regulations.
• Identify unsafe conditions in underground headings.
• Train and mentor new employees and apprentices.

Project: North Mine

Location: Sudbury, ON

Rotation: 7 days on 7 days off

Shift Length: 12 hrs day shift 10.5 hrs night shift

Salary Range: $97,000 - $117,000/annum, range is variable and dependent on overtime worked and production bonus paid

Allowance: Provided based on place of residence

Job Summary:

The primary role of the Mechanic is to perform preventive maintenance and repairs to diesel, electrical, hydraulic and air operated equipment. This includes mobile equipment hoists, compressors, drills, small tools and miscellaneous equipment of a similar nature.

Responsibilities

• Must be able to follow proper procedure to ensure safety and to control equipment damage
• Provide skilled mechanical work in diagnosing, repairing and maintaining a variety of mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical systems
• To accurately fill out any preventative maintenance check sheet related to his work
• Must be able to comprehend written and verbal instructions as required to perform his/her duties in a safe and efficient manner
• Perform diagnostic testing to identify problems and determine the solution to solve the problem utilizing the schematics in the OEM manuals and or programs.
• The use of a mechanical work order system to track repairs on individual pieces of equipment.
• Familiar with underground Mobile equipment Braking regulations//testing and adjusting such components.
• Adjust equipment and repair or replace defective parts, components or systems.
• Test repaired equipment for proper performance and to ensure that work meets manufacturer specifications.
• Comply with all Redpath and Owners safety regulations and procedures.
• Identify unsafe conditions in underground headings - high level of alertness required
• Train and mentor new employees and/or apprentices.

• Following Redpath Canada Limited health and safety standards and systems, including the Five Point Safety System and the Cardinal Rules, and reporting any unsafe acts or conditions
• Responsible to ensure proper use and maintenance of personal protective equipment required in the performance of the work.
• Must have knowledge of the WHMIS legislation and know how to effectively use an MSDS sheet.
• Comply with the Act and Mining Regulations that apply to the work area.

• Ability to understand work from ladder flowcharts, schematics, sketches and wiring diagrams.
• Ability to utilize and create excel spreadsheets, word documents and adobe reader
• Government Regulations and interval testing for; Fire Suppression, 5 gas analysis, NDT, pressure vessels, tire & rim, crane etc...
