Qualifications

We are growing and looking for a qualified Heavy Duty Journeyman Mechanic to join our team TODAY.

Duties and Responsibilities

The Heavy Duty Journeyman Mechanic is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and performing preventative maintenance on commercial transport vehicles. Ensuring all work meets manufacturers' specifications and legislated regulations. Interpreting and processing work orders, as well as providing performance evaluations, mentorship, and supervision to apprentices.

Scope
  • Maintain equipment at high standards, ensuring proper function and availability.
  • Inspect and test mechanical units such as engines, transmissions, axles, and brake systems.
  • Diagnose, adjust, repair, or replace parts and components of truck systems including chassis, engine, drivetrain, air brakes, steering, and electrical systems.
  • Repair or replace parts of truck-trailer and trailer systems, including structural, brake, and electrical systems.
  • Promote safety awareness and follow policies on quality, health, safety, and environment.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
What You Bring
  • Licensed Heavy Duty Journeyman Mechanic with a minimum of 3 years' experience
  • CVIP Certification is an asset
  • Class 1 License is an asset
  • Safety-conscious approach and maintaining a clean work environment
  • Ability to interpret work orders and manuals
  • Perform scheduled preventative maintenance
  • Diagnose faults and malfunctions
  • Adjust and repair equipment, replacing defective parts or systems
  • Complete service repair orders and bill parts used
  • Capable of working in a physically demanding environment
  • High attention to detail, organized, and reliable in documenting repairs
  • Effective communication skills
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and standards
