Qualifications

Job description

The Heavy-Duty Technician apprentice will be responsible for diagnosing and completing repairs required by Highline and its subsidiaries' heavy equipment, including excavators, digger derrick booms, skid steers, drive heads, loaders, picker trucks, tracked carriers, semi-trucks, automotive, and support equipment. The candidate must have the ability to troubleshoot major and minor mechanical problems, as well as to repair and adjust all necessary mechanical components, including hydraulic systems.

Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will ensure that company equipment is maintained in good working condition by inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and servicing the fleet in the shop. Obtaining quotes for parts required for repairs will sometimes be necessary.

Qualifications:

  • 1st Year Apprentice or higher
  • CVIP Certification
  • Class 5 driver’s license with an acceptable abstract; Class 1 license preferred, reliable transportation required
  • Experience with all aspects of off-road equipment, trucks, transport equipment, automotive, and small engine equipment
  • Experience troubleshooting and repairing a variety of Cat, JD, KW, FL, and other equipment
  • Experience with routine maintenance operations
  • Familiarity with computer diagnostic tools (e.g., Cat ET, Cummins, Navistar, SIS 2.0)
  • Overtime may be required
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Possible field work at times
  • Must have own tools and toolbox
