Job summary

Joe Johnson Equipment (JJE) in Calgary seeks a skilled Heavy Duty Equipment Journeyperson to inspect, diagnose, maintain, and repair municipal and public works vehicles, including vacuum trucks and street sweepers. You will work with a team to maximize uptime while upholding safety and workmanship standards.

Qualifications

  • Journeyperson certificate or Red Seal endorsement required.
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of hydraulic, electrical, pneumatic, and mechanical systems.
  • Valid driver's license with a satisfactory abstract.
  • Commitment to workplace safety and quality workmanship.

Responsibilities

  • Perform inspections, diagnostics, preventive maintenance, and mechanical repairs on a wide range of heavy-duty and specialized municipal equipment.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot hydraulic, electrical, pneumatic, and mechanical systems.
  • Repair and maintain vacuum trucks, hydro-vac units, street sweepers, refuse and recycling trucks, sewer inspection equipment, and other specialty vehicles.
  • Complete work orders accurately and efficiently while maintaining service documentation.
  • Collaborate with the Service Writer, Parts Department, and fellow technicians to maximize equipment uptime and customer satisfaction.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in accordance with company and regulatory safety standards.

Job description

We are looking for a skilled, reliable, and safety-focused Heavy Duty Equipment Journeyperson to join our team in Calgary. In this hands‑on role, you will inspect, diagnose, maintain, and repair a variety of specialized municipal and public works equipment, including vacuum trucks, hydro‑vac units, street sweepers, refuse and recycling trucks, and other heavy‑duty vehicles. Working closely with the Service Writer, Parts Department, and fellow technicians, you will help maximize equipment uptime while maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and customer service. The ideal candidate is a licensed Journeyperson with strong troubleshooting skills, a positive attitude, and a commitment to delivering exceptional workmanship in a collaborative team environment.

What You’ll Do
  • Perform inspections, diagnostics, preventative maintenance, and mechanical repairs on a wide range of heavy‑duty and specialized municipal equipment.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot hydraulic, electrical, pneumatic, and mechanical systems.

  • $2,500 Signing Bonus for fully licensed Journeypersons, payable in accordance with the Company's signing bonus program terms and conditions. Subject to the terms and conditions of the Company's Signing Bonus Program.

Status:

Permanent, Full-Time

Compensation Type:

Hourly (overtime paid in accordance with Alberta employment legislation)

What You Bring
  • Heavy Equipment Technician Journeyperson Certificate or recognized interprovincial Red Seal endorsement required.
