HEALTHCARE SAFETY & RISK MANAGEMENT COORDINATOR

Job Title: Healthcare Safety & Risk Management Coordinator

Reports to: Director, Healthcare Safety & Risk Management

Status: Full-time Permanent

Direct Reports: None

Travel Requirements: None

Office Hours: 8:30AM – 4:30PM

Summary

The primary responsibility of the Healthcare Safety & Risk Management Coordinator is to support Subscribers with risk management and patient safety resources.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Tools and Resource Development and Support
  • Support HIROC and Subscribers’ Partnership Program.
  • Act as a primary resource for Subscribers participating in the Risk Assessment Checklist Program and the Risk Register, including coordinating invitations, demonstrations, account setup, troubleshooting, preparing emails, and liaising with Insurance Services for premium discounts.
  • Coordinate and prepare Subscriber RAC reports.
  • Provide platform support for Risk Register and Risk Assessment Checklist programs.
  • Compile resources, claims data, etc., to support the development/maintenance of Risk Reference Sheets and other documents.
  • Convert data and text into predefined templates (e.g., Word templates).
Quality Assurance, Analysis, and Report Preparation
  • Prepare Partnership Reports.
  • Support Partnership Program including scheduling, data support, and report delivery.
  • Compile liability and property claims analysis reports and incorporate results into formats like graphs and presentations.
  • Conduct quality checks to ensure data accuracy.
  • Analyze data using various software tools.
  • Assist in developing risk management reports for the Healthcare Safety and Risk Management team.
OTHER
  • Manage HSRM Department inquiries via email.
  • Moderate and support Subscribers on the collaborative platform.
  • Contribute to department planning.
  • Participate in educational opportunities, projects, initiatives, and committees.
  • Assist Subscribers with access to HIROC’s report portal.
  • Perform other duties as required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
  • Strong attention to quality control and detail.
  • Exceptional customer service skills.
  • Excellent critical thinking skills.
  • Good time management, organization, and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and pivot tables.
  • Willingness to learn and demonstrate initiative.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and listening skills, including presentation delivery.
  • Ability to work with all employee levels.
  • Self-motivated and independent worker.
  • Team player with good communication and interpersonal skills.
EDUCATION, TRAINING & EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor’s degree or relevant work experience.
  • At least 5 years of experience in healthcare, government, or academia focusing on risk management, safety, or project management.
  • Experience in a healthcare clinical environment is an asset.
  • Strong organizational, writing, and attention-to-detail skills.
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Office, especially Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.
