Job summary

North Wellington Health Care's Palmerston & District Hospital is seeking a casual Registration/Switchboard Clerk to serve as the main communication centre, directing calls and ensuring accurate patient registration.

The role requires medical terminology certification, Meditech registration expertise, MS Office proficiency, and the ability to work in a fast-paced healthcare setting with strict privacy compliance.

Qualifications

• Graduate Medical Office Program preferred; medical terminology certificate required.
• Expert Meditech Registration knowledge.
• Experience with healthcare Switchboard/Registration and privacy compliance.

Responsibilities

• Act as main communication centre, answer calls, redirect to departments, manage paging and emergency codes.
• Register patients accurately in the hospital information system with current information for each visit.
• Understand downtime procedures for phone system, HIS, paging and other electronic systems.
• Maintain professional contact management, ensuring patient confidentiality and privacy compliance.
• Other duties as assigned, including file sorting and organizing patient information.
