Position Summary

Under the direction of the Resident Care Manager, the Healthcare Aide (HCA) provides holistic care to residents, addressing their physical, emotional, spiritual, and social well-being, in accordance with Donwood's mission, vision, and values, and resident-centered care practices.

Qualifications
  • Completion of recognized HCA Course
  • Mental and physical capability to meet job demands
  • Skills to foster positive working relationships
  • Prior experience in long-term care (asset)
  • Completion of C.A.U.S.E.S. training (asset)
  • Ability to work cooperatively in a team
  • Ability to handle fluctuating workload and prioritize
  • Knowledge of German Mennonite culture (asset)
  • Familiarity with long-term care (asset)
  • Proficiency in a second language (asset)

Responsibilities
  • Personal Care: Promote cleanliness and skin integrity through personal care.
  • Nutrition: Assist residents with nutritional needs and engage with them during meals.
  • Elimination: Support residents with waste elimination.
  • Ambulation/Mobility: Assist with movement and positioning.
  • Psychological: Support intellectual stimulation and communication.
  • Resident Care Planning: Participate in care planning and evaluation.
  • Quality Improvement: Engage in quality and risk management programs.
  • Education: Maintain competence relevant to current practice.
