Position Overview

The Healthcare Aide (HCA), under the direction of the Resident Care Manager, provides holistic care to residents, addressing physical, emotional, spiritual, and social well-being in accordance with the Donwood Resident Bill of Rights. The role reflects Donwood’s mission, vision, and values, emphasizing resident-centered care practices.

Qualifications
  • Completion of recognized HCA Course
  • Mental and physical capabilities to meet job demands

  • Prior experience in long-term care (asset)
  • Completion of C.A.U.S.E.S. training (asset)
  • Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively in a team
  • Ability to handle fluctuating workloads and prioritize
  • Knowledge of German Mennonite culture and community (asset)
  • Familiarity with long-term care (asset)
  • Proficiency in a second language (asset)

Responsibilities
  • Personal Care: Promote cleanliness and skin integrity through personal care.
  • Nutrition: Assist residents with nutritional needs and engage with them during meals.
  • Elimination: Assist with waste elimination.
  • Ambulation/Mobility: Support residents with movement and positioning.
  • Psychological: Support intellectual stimulation and communication.
  • Resident Care Planning: Participate in planning and evaluating resident care.
  • Quality Improvement and Risk Management: Engage in related programs.
  • Education: Maintain competence relevant to current practices.
