The Healthcare Aide (HCA) provides care to residents under the supervision of the Resident Care Manager, ensuring holistic care that respects the Resident Bill of Rights and aligns with Donwood’s mission, vision, and values.

Qualifications:

• Completion of recognized HCA Course
• Mental and physical capabilities to meet job demands
• Skills to foster positive working relationships
• Experience in long-term care (asset)
• Completion of P.I.E.C.E.S. training (asset)
• Ability to work cooperatively in a team
• Ability to handle fluctuating workload and prioritize
• Knowledge of German Mennonite culture (asset)
• Familiarity with long-term care (asset)
• Proficiency in a second language (asset)

Responsibilities:

• Personal Care: Promote resident comfort and skin integrity
• Nutrition: Assist with nutritional needs and interact with residents
• Elimination: Assist with waste elimination
• Mobility: Assist with ambulation and positioning
• Psychological: Support intellectual stimulation and communication
• Care Planning: Participate in care planning and evaluation
• Quality & Risk Management: Participate in quality improvement programs
• Education: Maintain competence relevant to practice
