Health & Safety Onboarding and Training Specialist

At AtkinsRéalis is hiring a H&S Onboarding & Training (Construction) Specialist to support our latest Project in Toronto. The successful candidate will report to the Senior Manager, Health and Safety on the Project. The role aims to help the project achieve top-tier Safety and Security results by interfacing across all project teams, providing leadership, resources, audits, training, evaluating systems, analyzing data, and developing improvement programs.

Responsibilities

• Implement duties related to health and safety roles, including onboarding, training, reporting, incident investigation, and risk assessments.
• Provide expertise, advice, and guidance on health and safety matters across the program.
• Collaborate with contractors to ensure safety measures are effectively implemented.
• Conduct assessments, audits, and recommend improvements.
• Report at management level, escalate risks, and identify key issues.
• Coordinate with departments to determine and plan training needs.
• Design and develop onboarding and training programs, including selecting methods and conducting assessments.
• Maintain training records, host train-the-trainer sessions, and manage training facilities and systems.
• Review safety data and trends to identify gaps and corrective actions.
• Conduct training and onboarding as needed.

Qualifications

• Typically, 7+ years of experience in on-site health and safety roles.
• Experience in construction environments; major infrastructure experience is a plus.
• Proven ability to develop and implement safety management plans.
• Strong stakeholder management skills.
• Diploma or certification in health and safety or equivalent training.
