Job summary

CertainTeed, a Saint-Gobain subsidiary, seeks an HSE Mine Coordinator to help develop and startup the Antrim Mine in Lake Egmont, NS. You will implement health, safety, and environmental systems and work with management, employees, and regulatory bodies to establish a world-class site.

Qualifications

• Post-secondary education in Occupational Health & Safety or related field preferred.
• Minimum 5 years of health and safety experience in mining, construction, or industrial environments.
• CSO designation or equivalent.
• Strong knowledge of occupational health and safety regulations and best practices.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain health and safety programs, procedures, risk assessments, and emergency response plans.
• Coordinate safety training, orientations, regulatory compliance, and employee engagement initiatives.
• Lead workplace inspections, audits, incident investigations, and corrective action follow-up.
• Support contractor management, including onboarding, risk assessments, and worksite safety oversight.
• Track and report HSE performance metrics and compliance activities.
• Partner with mine management to ensure a safe, compliant, and productive workplace.
• Facilitate safety meetings, emergency response drills, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Are you a safety professional who thrives in dynamic environments and wants to play a key role in the development of a new mining operation?

We are seeking an experienced HSE Mine Coordinator to support the successful development and startup of our new Antrim Mine in Lake Egmont, Nova Scotia. Reporting to the Mine Development Manager, this role will be instrumental in developing, implementing, and maintaining the health, safety, and environmental systems that will support a world-class mining operation.

This is a unique opportunity to establish the safety foundation of a new site while working closely with project leaders, mine management, employees, contractors, and regulatory stakeholders.

During the construction phase, the successful candidate will focus heavily on the safe execution of large-scale civil and earthworks projects involving multiple contractors. As the site transitions into production, the role will continue to drive safety excellence through compliance, training, risk management, continuous improvement, and employee engagement.

What You'll Do
