The primary role of the Health & Safety Coordinator (HSC) is to ensure that the resort is compliant with all Alberta Occupational Health & Safety legislation. The HSC will be responsible for the implementation, execution, and maintenance of the Resort’s Health & Safety Program.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the implementation, execution, and maintenance of the Resort’s Health & Safety Program.
- Lead and supervise the Health & Safety Committee to ensure effectiveness and achievement of objectives.
- Support all departments at River Cree to ensure compliance with all HS legislative requirements.
- Participate in the development and review of SWP/SOP as requested.
- Provide safety orientations to new hires and contractors.
- Continuously evaluate and improve the safety program, tools, meetings, education, training, and processes.
- Use safety management software to document incidents, training, policies, procedures, and inspections.
- Foster a culture of open communication, collaboration, and risk management.
- Ensure personal and co-worker safety by adhering to all Health and Safety requirements.
- Assist with internal or external audits and corrective action plans as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in Occupational Health & Safety.
- At least 1 year of experience in a Health & Safety role for an organization with over 700 associates, preferably in hospitality.
- Extensive knowledge of Alberta Occupational Health & Safety Legislation.
- Strong computer skills.
- Excellent presentation, leadership, management, relationship-building, and communication skills.
Additional Information
The incumbent typically works standard weekday hours but must be flexible for evening, weekend meetings, or travel as required.
