AIM Roads, a division of Global Acciona Road Maintenance, focuses on road seasonal maintenance and infrastructure. The role reports directly to the AIM Roads HSE Manager and functionally to the Corporate Director of HSEQS.

Job Description

The primary objective of the HS Advisor is to promote safety culture through field presence, coaching, training, and mentoring on HS expectations.

Responsibilities
  • Assess HS performance in the field and identify gaps.
  • Coach employees on safety practices, conduct safety meetings, hazard checks, and hazard identifications.
  • Verify completion of training and assessments.
  • Assist with incident investigations.
  • Work with HSE team to develop procedures, SOPs, and competency roadmaps.
  • Conduct HS and housekeeping audits to ensure standards are met.
  • Maintain HS documentation, including equipment inspections, hazard IDs, near misses, etc.
  • Perform field inspections and prepare weekly reports.
  • Communicate observations to operations teams.
  • Assist with unsafe work refusals, near misses, and incident investigations.
  • Perform other safety duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work independently and in teams.
  • Leadership, supervision, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Road construction and maintenance experience.
  • Valid BC Driver’s license (class 5) and positive driving record.
  • Knowledge of Motor Vehicle Act and WorkSafeBC regulations.
  • Physical fitness for outdoor work in all weather conditions.
  • Understanding of BC Occupational Health and Safety Legislation.
  • Knowledge of Certificate of Recognition and ISO45001 is an asset.
  • Experience with SiteDocs or similar applications is an asset.
Special Conditions
  • Travel within the Okanagan region and beyond may be required.
Experience & Qualifications
  • Knowledge of MoTI specifications.
  • Occupational Health and Safety Certificate/Diploma.
  • Construction Safety Officer (CSO) Certification.
  • Working towards or holding Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) designation.
  • 2-5 years of construction and road maintenance supervisory experience.
  • 5+ years of practical health and safety experience.
  • Traffic Control Management certification is an asset.
  • WorkSafeBC First Aid Level 2 or 3, or working towards it.
  • ISO 45001 Internal Auditor certification is an asset.
