North Wellington Health Care in Palmerston, Ontario is seeking a casual Health Information Management Professional (Technician) to join the Palmerston & District Hospital.

You will assign codes, abstract data, ensure quality, and process PHI requests, working within CIHI guidelines and hospital policies. The position is unionized with OPSEU Local 226; day shifts as required, with hourly pay ranging from $33.53 to $35.08.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Health Information Management Program.
• Certified member with CHIMA in good standing.
• 2 years recent experience in health information management preferred.
• Experience with Med2020 Abstracting System, Meditech and Microsoft Office Applications an asset.
• Excellent computer proficiency, statistical aptitude, data integrity and privacy compliance.

Responsabilités

Health Information Management Professional (Technician)

(CASUAL)

A casual Health Information Management Professional (Technician) position is available at the Palmerston & District Hospital.

This position is unionized with OPSEU, Local 226.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Assigning diagnostic and procedural codes Inpatient (DAD), ER/Daycare/Oncology (NACRS) patient records using ICD-10-CCI classifications
• Electronically abstract demographic and clinical information from the patient's health record in accordance with Canadian Institute for Health Information (CIHI) guidelines and principles and the Hospital's policies/procedures
• Maintain departmental performance standards for productivity and data quality
• Submission of coded data to CIHI
• Remain current with changes in coding practices, CIHI guidelines/principles regarding DAD/NARCS coding elements
• Process requests related to access and/or disclosure of PHI according to Hospital Privacy Policy & Procedure and other applicable provincial statutes and legislation
• Perform data quality activities as required
• Act as a resource for internal/external inquiries regarding access/disclosure of PHI
• Work within scope of position but willing to accept other assignments and be available to take on additional duties or help out during backlogs/vacation

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Graduate of an accredited Health Information Management Program
• Certified member with the Canadian Health Information Management Association in good standing
• A minimum of 2 years recent experience working in a health information management capacity preferred
• Experience with Med2020 Abstracting System, Meditech and Microsoft Office Applications an asset
• Excellent computer proficiency, statistical aptitude and demonstrated attention to detail and data integrity
• Strong working knowledge of the Personal Health Information Protection Act (PHIPA)
• Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
• Demonstrated reliable attendance, punctuality, availability and performance required
• Demonstrated adherence to privacy and security compliance
• Satisfactory performance and attendance required
• Satisfactory Reference Checks required prior to start date
• Must provide a Police Vulnerable Sector Check
• Must complete a Pre-Employment Health Assessment prior to being hired

HOURS:

• Day shifts, Monday to Friday, as required

SALARY:

• $33.53 to $35.08 per hour
